Fed: Australia had 278 bombings last year - Ellison

Justice Minister CHRIS ELLISON says the number of reported bombings around Australia
dropped to 278 last year from more than 400 in 2001.

Senator ELLISON has told the Australian Bomb Data Centre's annual conference the majority
of Australian bombings are attributed to vandalism.

In 2001, the 415 reported bombings included the car bombing in Western Australia that
killed former Perth detective chief DON HANCOCK and his racing identity friend LOU LEWIS.
